Desert Tortoise Gallery
The Desert Tortoise, Gopherus agassizii, is native to the Sonoran desert.
They live to be 80-100 years old and dig underground burrows where they spend most of their time.
The Desert Tortoise eats herbs, wildflowers, new growth cacti, fruit and flowers.
Desert Tortoises are protected, but can be adopted from the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum adoption program.
